If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

If tears could build a stairway
and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring you home again.
If the day should come when I'm in pain,
And you know I won't be well again,
Promise you'll do what must be done,
If this is the battle that can't be won.

It'll break your heart, but please be kind,
Don't let your grieving sway your mind.
For this is when you'll let me see
Just how much you do love me.

Together we've had happy years.
The future now can hold no fears.
Please don't let me suffer so
When that day comes, please let me go.

In time I hope that you'll come to see
It's the last kindness you'll do for me.
One more time please stroke my mane
And know that I'll have no more pain.

And don't be sad that it was you
Who decided this was what to do.
We've been such good friends through the years,
Don't let me be the cause of tears.

You'll always see me grazing now,
With the sun upon my back.
Painful limbs won't let me down ,
However long and steep the hack.

Alive still in your heart and mind,
A lovely place to stay.
And what you have in memories
No one can take away.

Old Horses

I've been your confidante and friend.
Don't abandon me at my life's end.

This is the time when I'll need YOU most,
Don't leave me tied to a stranger's post

Where new surroundings cause alarm.
To be just an old horse from another farm.

Don't pass me on because I am old,
To adjust to change where I'll be scared.

It's not easy to know you'll shed some tears,
But I gave you most of my best years.

Offer me a peaceful send to fields of gold,
With someone who I know has cared.

Star passed away during the night of October 24th 2013.  As far as we can tell he must have coliced.  We laid Star to rest on October 25th.  He was a great little pony who was trained to pull a cart, jump and was involved in 4-h and pony club.  He was the epitome of a bombproof horse. Star brought joy to many children over his lifetime and he is be missed.
